Adobe Photoshop is a photo-editing application that enables the user to not only crop, transform, color correct, or save in a particular format. It can also allow the photographer to graphically change an image in such a way that it actually loses its original photograph form and assume a more "drawn" characteristic.

Assignment

Part 1

1. Copy this image
2. Open Photoshop
3. Create a new document.
4. Paste the image of the watch into the new document
5. Select "Image / Mode / Grayscale" from the Photoshop menu (This discards all color information from the image) - DO NOT FLATTEN OR MERGE LAYERS
6. Use the "Image / Adjustments /Levels" command in Photoshop to color correct the grayscale image. What you want is for most of the gray to dissapear and there only to be a black and white image
7. Open the "Layers" pallette under the Window command
8. Click and hold down the "Alt" key while selecting the "Background" Layer. This will unlock the layer.
9. Select "Image / Mode / RGB" (This converts the image back into Red/Green/Blue color mode) - DO NOT FLATTEN OR MERGE LAYERS
10. Select the layer with the "Watch" on it. Change the blend mode from "Normal" to "Multiply." Do not change the brush mode to Multiply, found on the options panel at the top of the Photoshop program - only the layer.
11. Reselect the "Background" layer. This will allow you to paint on that layer.
12. Choose whatever color you want from the Color pallette, under "Window / Color" menu. The objective of choosing colors is to color the watch so that it appears like the provided sample above.
13. Use the pen tool to color the image. Be sure to use the "Shape" option, not "Path"
14. Continuously change your color depending on what portion of the watch you are coloring
15. Save file (when completed) in a folder labeled "Image Manipulation"
    

Part II

Repeat the above steps on five (5) new images (15 pts each) that you shot with your camera. It can be any image that you prefer. Try to choose ones that contain a high amount of detail. You can use whatever colors you want for these images.
