Ethnic Menu Recreation (200 pts)

There are many different types of restaurants. The American style restaurants typically display colorful graphics and imagery to accompany food descriptions, nutritional information, and prices. Over the past fifteen years, ethnic restaurants have managed to establish themselves as dominant eateries in just about every corner of the United States. And, with them, come a menu style that differs from what we have been accustomed to.

Here is the scenario: A popular local Mexican restaurant was recently purchased and it's new owners need a new look for the cover of their menu. However, they still want to keep the menu from the original owners. The problem is that the original menu is non-editable. Thus, this menu needs to be reconstructed from the ground up. The owners want it to look identical (i.e., an exact duplicate) to the original menu, though do want text spell checked and want "Widows" and "Orphans" removed.

Objective:

The restaurant’s new name is: “MEXICAN PARADISE”

For this assignment, here is what you need to accomplish.

Step 1: (Adobe Illustrator)

A new logo for “Mexican Paradise” must be created, as there isn’t one yet designed.
The Logo is to be sketched first, approved by your instructor, and created in Adobe Illustrator.

Your logo is to be graphically enhanced in Adobe Photoshop (Bevels, drop shadows, glows, etc)

Step 2: (Adobe InDesign)

• Recreate the original menu, making it appear identical (minus "widows" and "orphans") to the hand-out that is provided to you.
  
• You might need to use a ruler to measure out the page margins, spacing between lines of text, etc.
  
• Adobe InDesign is to be used for the entire text layout for the menu.
• Fix "Widows" and "Orphans" (left over words) in the text.
• Use new graphics. Nobody wants to see black/white images of food
• Use Spell Check to repair faulty text
  
  Why Adobe InDesign? InDesign is a layout program, much like Illustrator, that allows you to arrange text and graphics. However, unlike Adobe Illustrator, InDesign will allow you to create multi-page PDF’s.
