The Print Services of Morton High School is a combined effort of student involvement (Production Printing class) and the Graphic Design instructor, who strive to meet district print needs, as well as interested parties who inquire about cost-effective printed goods. The money acquired for providing these print services is in constant recycle, feeding the student operated screen printing facilities, vinyl design and application lab, student provided graphic design services, and mass production shop. This student operated business, also referred to as an “activity fund,” was formerly under the established identity of PhlieByKnight. This identity was succeeded by the newly adopted “Orbital Approach Design,” a name change to reflect the modernized vantage point of the new digital direction of the print services division and Technology Education Department.

The printed goods that are product of Orbital Approach Design, and the Production Printing Class, are artifacts that are provided as both a community service and a learning example for student growth and development in the design/print arena. These are not the endeavors of professional craftsmen who have invested a lifetime in their trade. These are novices who are partaking in the journey for the purpose of education and the expansion of knowledge. Thus, the observance of quality is constantly balanced with the learning experience of the student, and their ability to provide commitment to the course in tangent with their obligations to other instructors, administrators, clubs, activities, after-school jobs, families, etc.,.
